Coconut Grove is the oldest continuously inhabited neighborhood in Miami in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It is south of neighborhoods such as Brickell, and the Roads, as well as being east of Coral Gables. The area has thick vegetation, lending itself to the name Coconut Grove, and one can really get the experience of tropical Floridian living in this neighborhood. Coconut Grove was originally formed in 1925 when the city of Miami annexed two area that were about equal in size and formed them into the city of Coconut Grove and the majority of the town of Silver Bluff. Earlier back still, in 1825, several generations of immigrants established the area during the time the Cape Florida lighthouse first went into operation. Over the many decades, the area saw a large amount of Northeastern Americans coming down for the agricultural benefits as well as the weather. Throughout its history, Coconut Grove has been a well-preserved slice of Florida’s wild side, and is highly praised by visitors and residents alike.
Coconut Grove gets the typical Florida experience with high heats and high humidity stretching throughout the year. Very rarely does the temperature drop beneath fifty degrees Fahrenheit. The most humid months tend to be June through August, and the precipitation is noticeable.
